Bangkok Dangerous - Yeah right!
We awake after 4 hours sleep and head down for breakfast where they are serving fried rice, tofu red curry, stir fried vegetables, and a full buffet American breakfast.
We load up on toast, pancakes, cereal, and fruit - fully recovered from any jet lag.

We are so excited to be in Bangkok we head out straight after breakfast to find the sky train bound for Siam square, home to five world class shopping malls.
We didn’t notice that it was only 8am until we reached Silom road, there were thousands of people everywhere.
Girls wearing heels perch side saddle on scooter taxis.. Bangkokians in suits eating fried chicken en-route to work... The traffic is heavy & cars & motorbikes toot horns friendlily to say ‘hello I’m in your blind spot!’ Sky trains are packed to the brim, sardines in a can come to mind… Tuk tuks and taxis are plentiful and always available with a friendly driver trying his hardest to lure you inside for a ride of your life. Stall holders push their livelihoods across 6 lanes of traffic - amazing and brilliant to watch!
MBK Mall:
Six epic levels of plastic, hello kitty merchandise, Gucci watch replicas, Abercrombie T-shirts & DVD stalls. ‘The girl who kicked the hornets nest’ is for sale which is the 3rd in the series & the 2nd one is still playing in NZ cinemas?? The mighty Bhat rules here.
I ask how much for Inception & the vendor says “Oh that one you wait twenty minute I make you cd ok?” “ Yeh I not have now cos very new & police make trouble!” “ahh no thanks” I reply.

Patpong Night Market:
Patpong is an assault to the senses, we are well prepared for ping pong show touts – one of whom saves Geoff’s life from being cut short by a scooter! Vendors are desperate to make sale ‘special price for you’ etc. A glance at their table is enough to invite a demonstration of hard selling. We very much enjoy it all the same as we head back for round two the next night.
