Arriving in Bangkok!
Our flight to Sydney is delayed so we realise when we land we need to run to catch the next plane...
We literally just make it to the terminal and board QF1 bound for Bangkok. The aircraft is massive - Bec is amazed and blown away by the size of the plane. The 8 hour 50 minute plane ride passes with ease.
We clear customs quickly & are impressed by the vast new airport with endless travelators which we find very humorous, passing other passengers like we are on a freeway.
Everything at the airport is clearly sign posted so we find our way through customs and collect our bag.
The taxi stand operator nods reassuringly when we approach him and ask: “400 baht maichai?”, & I realise my pinglese will need work… Thankfully John gave us those Thai language CDs ….
Our driver is pleasant but very erratic & weaves along toll highways passing other speeding vehicles averaging 120kph. Each time we speak to him he turns around to face us & the car swerves from lane to lane, we quickly cease conversation……
On our way into the City the driver points out the skytrain & our jaws drop seeing the bright lights & sky scrapers heavily lit up at 1am. Geoff recognises a ute like his which has been modified to carry goods stacked about 3 meters high. Respect!
We arrive in the Silom area and the taxi driver points out patpong, ping pong, the night market and our sky train stop before disembarking us to our Hotel.
We both go to sleep happy in such a safe clean & well located hotel.
